COVID-19,CIVIL UNREST AND COMIC BOOK INDUSTRY FLIP FLOPS!

I am writing this now within the context of the viral pandemic we have experienced in which we were ordered by the State of Indiana to close for about two months, the social/civil unrest associated with societal problems many years in the making and now, in case you haven’t heard, DC Comics is turning the comic book industry upside down by terminating their contract with Diamond Comics.

We have all been stressed and scared by the global pandemic. We all have to be concerned and anxious about the social unrest and discord currently in our society.

By addressing DC Comics news is not to compare it to the upheaval created by Covid-19 and current civil unrest. But I want to allay any fears that all of these stresses and changes, CQ being closed for 8 weeks or so, for instance, may have on your concerns about CQ’s ability to function in this new world we are in. CQ is doing well and is very healthy. Without going into details, we have been fortunate to come out of the past several months in stronger financial shape than before the pandemic. Much of this is due to serendipity and grace. Suffice to say, our sales, confidence and resolve are strong. We are moving forward with better merchandising, strong product lines and professional staff. If you haven’t been in lately you need to see our new kid’s area, our improved tpb/graphic novel footprint, improvements in the organization of our back issues, many new fixtures, and our revamped vintage comic book area.

While DC Comics decision does not seem to make our work easier we will do what we need to do to offer you all the comic related products you enjoy including DC comics, toys and graphic novels. We will adjust to these industry changes.

What I want everyone to know is that we have seen many changes in the industry in the past thirty years. All of these changes has required a steady hand, resilience and adaptability. The sales environment we now offer is the result of responding to changing desires of our customer base and the various industries which supply us our product lines. We humbly submit to you that we are healthy, working hard to serve your collecting and entertainment needs and we look forward to serving you for many years to come. We continue to be grateful for your patronage and understand it is all about the support you provide that keeps us in business now for close to 30 years!
